TEAM GB HOMECOMING
Team GB Homecoming
Team GB Homecoming was a celebration of Team GB's achievements at the Paris 2024 Olympics, held at Manchester Arena and broadcast on BBC One. Hosted by Emma Willis and Vernon Kay, the show combined live music performances, VTs, athlete interviews and celebratory moments for both the arena audience and viewers at home. Shiny Dot delivered the full visual package, including the show logo, title sting, lower thirds and stage screen content.
For presenter moments throughout the show, Shiny Dot developed the main house look using the Team GB design toolkit. The deconstructed Union Jack motif and graphic patterns were recreated for the large LED stage screen. We built an animated, layered graphic in 3D with added neon to bring movement and depth to the design. The result was a bold visual backdrop that kept the Team GB look intact.
Athletes' Parade Opening
Pete Tong delivered a live set for the show's opening as Team GB entered the arena for the athletes' parade. Shiny Dot designed bold red, white and blue visuals that transformed the stage screen into a perspective tunnel of light.
Aligned with the runway stage, the animation reinforced a sense of forward motion, tying into the athletes' procession into the arena. As the sequence built, lighting, haze and pyro intensified the moment, creating a striking entrance.
Women of Team GB
Following the milestone first reached at Tokyo 2020, Paris 2024 once again saw more women than men competing for Team GB. To mark the moment, Shiny Dot created a visual tribute to the women who shaped British Olympic history.
The stage screen transformed into a vast contact-sheet environment, its mirrored planes of archive imagery receding toward a central vanishing point, forming a sweeping timeline. Bold colour and hand-drawn accents were overlaid, giving the visuals a living scrapbook feel. Contact-sheet images drifted slowly in opposing directions across the perspective grid, while Olympic milestones expanded into bold, full-screen visuals. The sequence culminated in a live tribute to six trailblazing Olympians who appeared on stage beneath their portraits.
